Kent College, Pembury
Overview
Kent
College is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3 – 18;
classed as a ‘hidden gem’ in Kent, it is situated amongst safe, 75 acre rural
parkland surrounded by beautiful views and luscious greenery. The whole school
is divided as two, with the Nursery and Preparatory school for girls aged 3 –
11 and the Senior school and Sixth Form for girls aged 11 – 18. Boarding is
available from the age of 10.
The Kent College boarding community is very special; close, loyal friendships
exist across all age groups and this filters through to the rest of the school.
We were recently awarded an ‘Outstanding’ award in our 2009 Ofsted Boarding
Report for achieving very high standards of practice. The boarding community
comprises a quarter of the school population and encompasses a diversity of
ethnic and social backgrounds maintaining a good balance between UK and
overseas girls. Quite a few of our boarders have parents who are abroad with
the British Armed Forces and we offer a 20% forces discount which reduces the
fees considerably when used in conjunction with the Boarding Schools Allowance.
As a highly recommended school with a superb level of pastoral care, we aim to
help girls grow into spiritual, moral, confident young women.
Unique Points
Caring for the individual is the essential ingredient in our ethos and we aim to offer unusual and exciting opportunities both within the classroom and as extra-curricular activities, of which there are over 60 (bee keeping, ballet, horse riding, glazy daisy’s, gymnastics and debating are all very popular after school activities). Here girls have the chance to shine, try something different, express themselves and develop new and existing talents. Our Christian foundation focuses all we do in a spirit of kindness, embracing those of all faiths and none.
