Plymouth College
Overview
Plymouth
College is a co-educational school based in the bustling maritime city of
Plymouth with the magnificent moorland, countryside and coastal landscapes of
Devon and Cornwall close to hand. The school has been at the forefront of
education in the South West of England since 1877 and, whilst quietly conscious
of its past and traditions, it remains forward-looking and dynamic. Today, the
focus is resolutely on preparing young people for the demands and expectations
of the twenty-first century and for living in a world which is rapidly
changing.
Our exam results are consistently above the national average but education at
Plymouth College goes beyond the classroom. We offer a wide range of activities
such as sport, music and drama, and each pupil is encouraged to broaden his or
her horizons.
We welcome pupils from all over the world including Europe, the Far East, Asia
and the Americas. Boarding at Plymouth College gives pupils the chance to live
life to the full and allows them a head start to living independently in the
future. A home-from-home, the boarding houses are run by an enthusiastic,
experienced and friendly team of resident staff
Unique Points
At
the heart of Plymouth College is the individual young person. We aim to enrich
the lives of our pupils and help them to be happy, confident and ambitious.
Our pupils value and contribute to the strong sense of community which exists
here and in return we recognise and encourage talents across a whole spectrum
of activities.
Good teaching, with a variety of activities and a high standard of care,
underpins our educational aims.
