The Top Five Universities in Wales
1. Swansea University
Swansea University was named the 'Welsh University of the Year' by the Times Good University Guide for the second time in three years, as well as being in the top 5 for student satisfaction (NSS 2018) and graduate prospects (Guardian University Guide 2020). More recently it was named 'University of the Year' by Whatuni student Choice awards and international students will be joining a world-class research institution with grand ambitions.
2. Cardiff University
Cardiff University is the only member of the Russell Group of research-led universities in Wales and the country's sole representative in the top 160 of the QS World Rankings. It is also one of the few universities in the UK to boast two Nobel laureates on its staff. 95% of Cardiff graduates enter employment, further study or both shortly after graduating (Destination of Leavers in Higher Education survey 2016/17) and students benefit from a stimulating study environment, research-led teaching, and interaction with academics.
3. Aberystwyth University
Aberystwyth University was named the 'UK University of the Year' for Teaching Quality' by the Times Good University Guide in 2018 and 2019 and also has a Gold award from the Teaching Excellence Framework. 97% of graduates are in employment or further education six months after graduation (Higher Education Statistics Agency 2018) and Aberystwyth is often described as the cultural capital of Wales.
4. Bangor University
The 2019 National Student Survey placed Bangor University amongst the UK’s top 10 for student satisfaction, and hundreds of courses are offered across the arts, humanities and sciences. The University is located close to Wales' stunning mountains and beaches and accommodation was rated as the best in the UK at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2018. Whatuni also named Bangor in the top 10 for 'Job Prospects'.
5. University of Wales Trinity Saint David
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is ranked in the top 5 UK universities for student satisfaction with Teaching Quality (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019) and 7th in the UK for Academic Experience (Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018). UWTSD has three main campuses in South West Wales, as well as a campus in London and learning centres in Cardiff and Birmingham.
