Studying at Nottingham Business School
Why did you Choose to study at University of Nottingham?
“I have always wanted to be in a business school that is world class with a diverse classroom, strong alumni network, good faculty profile and a beautiful campus that could change me for the better. The UK being an epicenter to the financial, audit and consulting sectors with the best business schools in the world, I could not bat my eyelid to go for any other country to pursue business studies. Talking to seniors from my undergrad who went to Nottingham where I got amazing feedback about their experience and looking through the website, course, employability and university global rankings, I decided, this is where I want to be for my masters.”
What do you love about the University?
“The beautiful campus which makes you fall in love at first sight and the amazing people who make you feel at ease. The people in UoN are so sweet along with the campus life in the university makes you feel warm, comfortable and at home. The University has people who are always there for you whatever issues/concerns you go to them and the professors are so sweet that my International Business Environment faculty gave me a premium chocolate for answering well in the class!”
What are the favorite things about your course?
“I love my course structure and modules. My course International Business covers all aspects of management like accounting, economics, Organizational Behavior, strategy, Marketing along with “International Business” being a major topic that helps us understand how businesses function in International markets considering various factors like trade policies, competition, inflations, political influences etc across different economies.
“Sitting in a classroom with students from more than 30 different countries, interacting with them over business problems and looking at solutions from different perspectives enhances a student as a professional as well as a person. It easily builds interpersonal and technical skills and helps us develop a new perspective rather than sticking to the mainstream approach.”
How has University supported you?
“Right from the time I got my admissions, I have had constant support from the university. Though I landed in the UK amidst the peak of the pandemic and I had online education, I never did find a difference of not going to a physical class. Also, I was able to connect with people from my country with the Whatsapp group created by the University. This helped me socialize and connect with a lot of people.”
What is the career support like?
“The career support from the University is solid. We have career sessions every week to prepare ourselves for stepping into a corporate world. They guide us through making CVs , LinkedIn profiles and improve our presentation skills. Also, we get access to websites that give practice tests which helps us prepare for Situational judgment and Quant rounds of the selection process.
“Also, a lot of career fairs and networking help is done by the university. We get to talk to alumni who got into big firms and banks and to recruiters from different firms. I have attended about 5 events in the last 4 months.”
What is it like to be in Nottingham as a student from India?
“Nottingham is a very peaceful and comfortable space for Indian students which makes it a reason for the existence of many Indian students. There is constant support for us starting from Visa, Accommodations, On-boarding, connecting with fellow Indians in groups, etc. It feels safe, secure and at home. The orientation sessions, Indian societies, Indian language and culture societies makes students feel more united. It is a great space to be in from India.”
