Fulneck School
Overview
Fulneck
School is an outstanding, co-educational school, located in Leeds, England. We
educate young people between the ages of 3 and 19; boarders are accepted from
the age of 9. Throughout their time here at Fulneck our pupils flourish and
become confident, well-rounded, young adults.
Fulneck has long had a reputation for exceptional academic standards and its
students achieve some of the best academic results in the area, with all pupils
gaining entry to their first choice university. Pupils follow the English
National Curriculum and study towards public examinations, in which Fulneck
vastly exceeds national averages. In 2010, Fulneck School was ranked the best
Sixth Form in Leeds (BBC ranking) and one of the top boarding schools in
Yorkshire. The broad curriculum covers all aspects of life – spiritual, moral,
social, academic, creative, cultural and physical – ensuring the balanced
development of all pupils.
Fulneck’s exceptional teaching and learning environment was confirmed this year
in not one but three outstanding inspection reports. The Independent School
Inspectorate (ISI) rated the school outstanding, Ofsted awarded Fulneck an
outstanding mark for the boarding environment. Furthermore Fulneck School
received the highest accolade of Ofsted Outstanding Provider.
Unique Points
Fulneck
School is about much more than just excellent examination results and
outstanding learning environment. We develop the whole individual by
encouraging self-discipline and responsibility and provide pupils with broad
life experiences, preparing them for exceptional success at Top UK Universities
and in life.
Thanks to the outstanding quality of the boarding environment and the “overall
exceptional education experience leading to pupils’ outstanding personal
development” (ISI School Inspection Report, Dec 2010) Fulneck School is the
best choice for an outstanding education in the North of England.
Entry Requirements
Once you have registered, your child will be invited to spend the day at Fulneck School with his or her year group. Buddies will be allocated to look after your child and guide him or her throughout the day.
During the day your child will sit an Entrance Assessment. Fulneck School uses this assessment as a guide to ability to ensure that on entry to the school, education is tailored to your child’s needs. Younger children will be observed in the classroom environment rather than sitting a formal assessment. During this time children may meet with the Principal or a senior member of staff for an informal interview. We also carefully consider the behaviour record of prospective pupils and when they are transferring from another school, we seek a reference from their Head Teacher. For overseas students unable to come to Fulneck to sit our assessment, we will make arrangements for your child to be tested in their home country by appointed invigilators.
