Falmouth University is a multi-arts university located on the south-west coastline of England, in Cornwall. Based across two campuses in Falmouth and the nearby town of Penryn, it was initially founded in 1902 before officially becoming a university in 2012. Alongside traditional fine art subjects, it now offers degrees in performance, advertising, architecture and marketing.
Falmouth has seen significant redevelopment and investment in recent years and a new Media Centre covering Photography and Animation being opened in 2007. The Exchange is a library and teaching space opened in partnership with the University of Exeter, which also carries out research on digital economy and sustainable design.
Falmouth students recently ranked the University first in the UK for campus environment, library services and student welfare in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey.
Falmouth University has an international society where students can meet, socialise and take part in events to various locations of historical or cultural interest. The University offers a range of discipline-specific language courses for free, as well as social English and CV writing skill classes.
There is a free pickup service from London Heathrow Airport at the beginning of term and, once a month, a three-day orientation programme is available to introduce students to the Cornish countryside, university and its students. Also included are introductory sessions on visas, bank accounts, accommodation and employment.
Falmouth University consistently ranks highly for Art & Design, placing in the top 20 UK university subject rankings nationally. During the most recent International Student Barometer, Falmouth was ranked first in the UK and second in the world for international student experience.
There are three main areas of university accommodation. The Glasney Student Village in Falmouth is shared with the University of Exeter and features over 1,400 en suite bedrooms arranged in flats of seven with a shared kitchen. The Sidings is located near the Penryn campus and has 233 en suite rooms with a small number of studio flats. Tuke House is primarily designed for foundation course students and features 156 beds near the Falmouth campus.
The Accommodation Office runs house hunting sessions in December and January to help students who wish to find private accommodation.
Falmouth is located in Cornwall in the south-west of England, an area of natural beauty and a long history of association with the arts. It is a popular tourist destination for its views, beaches and small villages. Cornwall has a heritage and culture distinct from the rest of the UK, and features lively towns and peaceful landscapes. It is one of the warmest and sunniest areas of the UK.
The Falmouth campus is surrounded by subtropical gardens. The town itself is a traditional seaside settlement with the third deepest natural harbour in the world. Penryn is one of Cornwall’s most ancient towns, and is much smaller. The newer campus means that students can live and work with modern architecture and technology in a compact setting.
My consultant was very helpful and motivating. She helped me every step of the way, even when the deadline was so close. I feel I could not have done it without her. I'd highly recommend this service to any and all of my many friends interested.
