Leeds Beckett University Overview

Leeds Beckett University gained university status in 1992 and traces its roots back to the 1824 Leeds Mechanical Institute. Based across two main campuses in the city, there are currently 25,000 students from over 125 countries currently enrolled, making it one of the largest universities in the UK.

The University places a strong focus on employability after graduation and all courses include at least two weeks of work-related learning per year. Work placements are encouraged and very popular, with nearly half of all students taking a sandwich course. Leed’s stated aims are to have every graduate enterprising, digitally literate and with a global outlook.

Leeds Beckett University has nine teaching fellows and seven prestigious Higher Education Academy (HEA) national teacher fellows. Following the most recent National Student Survey, student satisfaction at the school is 81%. In addition, 93.7% of Leeds Beckett graduates are in work or further study six months after graduating.
