Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the largest universities in the UK with over 37,000 students from 130 countries currently enrolled. The University has links with over 70 professional bodies and associations, recognising both the quality and practical focus of the course provision, with over 1,800 students per year taking a work placement sandwich. It has more professionally accredited courses than any other UK university and in 2014/15 over 800 jobs were advertised to students and graduates.
Manchester is one of the top 30 places to visit in the world, according to the New York Times, and new academic buildings have so far been nominated 17 awards, winning six. The University is split into eight faculties for areas such as Business and Law, Humanities Languages and Social Science and Art. The central campus is located in Manchester city centre, with a second campus in Cheshire. Manchester is one of the largest providers of science, engineering and technology education in the UK and an international leader in clothing design and technology. 92% of Manchester Met graduates go straight into work or further study within six months of graduation.

Manchester Metropolitan University's dedicated student services team offers international students career advice, counselling, learning support, and chaplaincy. The University offers free language support for international students in the form of lessons and individual consultations. At the beginning of the year there is a meet and greet service from Manchester International Airport to help new international students find their way to the University.
Following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 80% of the research environment in English Language and Literature was rated 'world leading' and 'internationally excellent'. Overall, 60% of the submitted research output was deemed ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ and the University rose 12 places in the research quality rankings and is now 53rd in the research power rankings.
Manchester Metropolitan has over 3,500 accommodation places across seven halls of residences, and all first-year students are guaranteed University accommodation. Standard and en suite rooms are available, generally arranged in flats with 3 to 12 rooms, with shared kitchen and dining facilities. There are also private halls of residence around Manchester and Crewe which offer the chance to meet students from other universities. The university also owns Manchester Student Homes, who can advise on finding private accommodation.
Manchester Metropolitan University has three campuses in the dynamic city of Manchester and one in nearby Crewe in Cheshire. Both locations offer study, leisure, sport, social and entertainment facilities, as well as excellent accommodation.
Manchester Metropolitan University is located close to the centre of the city with a mix of coffee shops, theatres, museums, clothes shops, shopping centres, café bars, pubs, clubs and towering apartment blocks. London is just under two and a half hours away by train. Students can enjoy all the advantages of being part of a large and varied university, but do so in a campus environment that offers a sense of community, security and easy access to local towns.
