2020 UK University Checklist
Search the course you want to study
There are over 65,000 UK university courses to search from on the SI-UK website, so whether you are looking for a foundation programme which will help you gain entry on to an undergraduate degree, or wish to give your career an extra boost by studying a masters programme, there is something for everyone.
Take the time to properly research different courses - modules can often vary from one university with a similar degree to the next - and narrow down the exact type of course you want to focus on.
Select the right university
Once you have chosen the course you wish to study, it is time to start considering where you want to study it. Universities in London are always popular with international students, but studying in Wales, Scotland or Ireland should also be considered due to their fantastic universities and beautiful surrounding areas.
Many cities across the north of England also offer a world class learning experience with a much cheaper cost of living. You should also look at UK university rankings for 2020 when considering how well a university performs.
Create your UCAS application
International students can select up to five universities on their UCAS application, and will need to supply a variety of supporting documents to verify their application.
Write your personal statement
A personal statement is a key part of your UK university application and is one of the ways university admissions officers judge you as a candidate. It is generally 400-600 words in length and covers your previous achievements and what you wish to gain from studying your chosen course.
Apply for a student visa
Applying for a visa is normally the last hurdle in the admissions process; however it is essential that students start preparing for it immediately, saving stress later in time. SI-UK provides free advice and support for international students who wish to apply to UK universities.
