Malaysia's prime minister has announced a goal for the country to become carbon neutral by 2050 to combat climate change. A pledge has been taken to move away from coal to reduce the carbon emissions and replace them with renewable energy. The target of net zero emissions by 2050 is expected to lead to an increase in jobs in the Renewable Energy sector by national energy providers, renewable energy developers, vehicle companies, battery manufacturers, etc. Globally this means an increase in jobs of over 40 million, not including additional jobs within energy efficiency requirements. In this webinar, we will look at various types of renewable energy systems that will help Malaysia in meeting its 'Net zero by 2050' target. We will also discuss how a building can become a power plant and generate its own electricity and how to make a building energy efficient by using novel building envelopes and solar windows.

Speaker's Profile: Dr Sourav Khanna is a Lecturer and Researcher in Renewable Energy at the University of Portsmouth, UK. He studied in India for his BSc, MSc and Phd degrees at Panjab University and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for four years in the UK before joining Portsmouth as a Lecturer. He is an active researcher in Renewable Energy, and he has published around 37 peer reviewed journal papers and obtained research grants worth GBP100,000.
