St. Bees School
Overview
Founded
in the year 1583, St Bees School is very proud of its history. We are a
co-educational School and welcome boarding boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years
and day pupils from the age of 4.
The School is set in 150 acres of private ground, in a unique position in the
heart of a small, safe coastal village on the edge of the stunning English Lake
District. Our pupils not only benefit from a high standard of education they
have all that the great outdoors has to offer, on their doorstep.
We encourage our pupils to grow and develop both academically and socially, in
a caring, supportive atmosphere. The structure of our boarding houses allows
pupils to become more independent as they grow up and to take responsibility
both for themselves and others.
Of course we have great sports facilities, very good academic results and a
high standard of art, music and drama, but what makes us different is our small
size (pupil, teacher ratio of 1:8), tolerant and happy pupils and international
flavour - our International Study Centre provides tuition in English so that
pupils can enter the next stage of their education with confidence.
The unique atmosphere of this very special community is best experienced by a
personal visit
Unique Points

We have a Golf Academy based around the School’s own links golf course.
