Be the Difference Postgraduate International Scholarship
Scholarship Name Be the Difference Postgraduate International Scholarship
Academic Year 2025
Scholarship amount £7,000

We are seeking students who are prepared to inspire, eager to shape their future careers and ready to ‘Be the difference’ both in Stirling and globally within their communities.

As part of our commitment to attracting the very best students to join our diverse international community, we are delighted to offer the Be the Difference Postgraduate International Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded in the form of a £7,000 tuition fee waiver for new students in the first year of a Masters degree and is open to all full-time, self-funding students who are classed as International for tuition fee purposes.

Eligibility and availability

  • You must have received a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible postgraduate taught course at the University of Stirling, any application without a valid offer will not be assessed.

  • Please ensure that you have read the terms and conditions before submitting your application.

  • You must be a new student starting at the university in September 2025 or January 2026.

  • You must be classed as an International student for tuition fee purposes.

  • You must be a self-funded student (those receiving external sponsorship or other scholarships will not be eligible).

  • You must enter directly into a full-time postgraduate degree programme delivered at the University’s Stirling campus.

  • Online degrees are not eligible.

  • This scholarship cannot be combined with any other Stirling scholarship or award. If offered more than one University of Stirling award, then the highest value award will be applied.

  • Students progressing from an INTO Pre-Masters course are not eligible to apply but may be eligible for INTO Progression scholarships.

  • Any application suspected of using AI such as ChatGPT will not be assessed.

Applicants from the EU, East Asia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nigeria and Pakistan may be eligible for a country-specific scholarship.

Terms and conditions

Please read the attached conditions associated with accepting this scholarship carefully prior to applying for the scholarship.

  • If awarded the scholarship, you will be required to pay the £6000 Tuition Fee Deposit within 10 working days of receiving the award letter. If a self-funded student will cover 100% of tuition expenses through education loans this deposit can be waived on provision of loan documentation.

  • Where applicants fail to pay their deposit or fail to provide proof of education loans in the amount of 100% of tuition fees by 8th October, the University of Stirling reserves the right to rescind the scholarship and offer to another candidate.

  • The award and the payment of a deposit or proof of education loans covering 100% of tuition fees are not interchangeable – international fee paying students are still required to pay a deposit by the deadline.

  • The award shall be made as a tuition fee discount, meaning that fees will be reduced by the amount specified. No cheque or payment shall be made directly to the student. Scholarship holders remain liable for paying any remaining tuition fees to the University of Stirling.

  • If an applicant defers their entry to a following year, then the scholarship award will be removed. The applicant would be required to reapply the following intake, but any award cannot be guaranteed.

  • If a scholarship awardee ceases to be a registered student within the standard duration of the course, any payment or refund due will be based on the discounted tuition fee.

  • Once you are enrolled at the University of Stirling, we may contact you using your University student email account. It is your responsibility to check this account regularly for important information regarding any requests relating to the Scholarships scheme. We may make changes to these terms from time to time and the version that is applicable to you will be those that were in force at the date of your application with us.
