Dublin City University is a globally recognised university committed to excellence and the development of talent through its fundamentals of academic and operational excellence. DCU’s strategic objective is to gain recognition as an International University of Enterprise and to equip students with the requisite skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Dublin City University was initially set up to fulfil the national requirement for a highly skilled workforce in the areas of business, science and electronics, computer technology, communications and languages.
DCU was the first university in Ireland to introduce work placement as part of its degree programmes, while its degree programmes were also the first to be interdisciplinary - for example studying business alongside languages. Many DCU students study at universities in Spain, France, Germany and Austria as part of their degree programmes under Erasmus exchange agreements.
The University provides language translation services and an Inter Faith Centre for the benefit of its students, while the sports centre at the University allows access to a spa, sauna, pool and fitness centre.
DCU provides on-campus accommodation for over 1400 undergraduate and postgraduate students, across its three campuses. The university campus accommodation is available for students looking for a temporary one semester accommodation as well as for those interested in full year accommodation. For those looking to live off-campus, there are many rental properties available in the surrounding area.
Dublin City University is a young university, situated on an 85 acre campus three miles north of the River Liffey in the city centre and just a 15-minute drive from Dublin airport. With the city just a 10-minute bus drive away, students of DCU have the best of both worlds; the social and cultural benefits of city life, but with the security and vibrancy of a university campus built very much for today. Students can enjoy cycling and walking to the campus and around which are convenient, cheap and eco-friendly ways to commute.
My counsellor contacted me every day throughout the application process and helped me receive an unconditional offer. I am so grateful to SI-UK and will never forget them. I will study very hard as I feel this is the best reward I can give the whole team.
