In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain campaign, the University of Strathclyde, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is offering four GREAT Scholarships to students in Ghana, Nigeria, India and Pakistan applying for postgraduate programmes in justice and law.
The GREAT Scholarships 2025 programme, launched by the British Council together with 71 UK universities, supports international postgraduate students from selected countries to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.
This scholarship offers financial support of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study at the University of Strathclyde.
Please note that applicants should be passport holders of Ghana, Nigeria, India or Pakistan.
Eligibility
In order to be deemed eligible for the GREAT Scholarship for justice and law, candidates must:
Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by the start of the academic year in September 2025.
Have paid their tuition fee deposit before 27 June 2025.
Register as an international, fee-paying student and should be passport holders of Ghana, Nigeria, India or Pakistan.
Have an offer of study for a full-time, postgraduate law programme at the University of Strathclyde. This scholarship is only available on the following programmes: LLM Law, LLM/MSc Criminal Justice and Penal Change; LLM/MSc Mediation and Conflict Resolution; LLM Global Environmental Law and Governance; LLM Human Rights Law; LLM International Commercial Law; LLM Construction Law; LLM Law, Technology and Innovation.
Terms and conditions
Applicants must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to be considered for this scholarship.
To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in the 2025 academic year and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria throughout their studies.
The scholarship is not available for online courses.
Students receiving discounted tuition fees from partner universities are not eligible.
The value of the scholarship is £10,000. The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee, subject to academic progression.
Scholarship recipients must be willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.
Scholarship recipients must be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and the University of Strathclyde and act as an ambassador for GREAT Scholarships.
As an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK.
Students who defer their offer of admission will not be eligible.
Students who transfer to a degree out with the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences will no longer be eligible to receive a scholarship.
Students are only eligible to hold one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences’ decision on the awarding of scholarships is final. Appeals will not be considered.
Engineering: Dean’s International Excellence Awards for Postgraduate Taught Study

The Faculty of Engineering are delighted to be offering a limited number of Dean’s International Excellence Awards worth £7,000 and £10,000 to exceptional applicants joining a postgraduate taught programme in September 2025. All self-funded, international (non-EU), fee-paying postgraduate taught applicants joining one of our on campus programmes will be considered.
All eligible international offer holders will automatically be considered and contacted before 31 July 2025 if successful. A scholarship application is not required.
If successful, the scholarship details will be added to your student record once payment of deposit has been received, and the funds will be automatically deducted from your overall tuition fees.
Eligibility
There are a limited number of Excellence Awards available of £7,000 - £10,000. Students are required to demonstrate academic excellence (usually a UK first class undergraduate degree or international equivalent), and the potential both to make a significant contribution to the Strathclyde community during their studies and in their chosen profession upon graduation. The deadline to be considered for the Dean’s International Excellence Award is 31 July 2025. There is no application process for this award and chosen offer holders will be contacted in advance of the deadline.

The scholarships will be available to those EU applicants who would have previously been eligible for Home (Scottish/EU) fee status but, because of Brexit, will now be classified as being eligible for International fee status.
Your application for study will be checked for eligibility when you apply, therefore you do not need to make a separate application for this scholarship.

To be considered for a scholarship an applicant must hold an offer to study a full-time attendance course in the 2025/26 academic year.
Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
Online, blended learning programmes, PGDE, and MSW Social Work programmes are not eligible for these scholarships.

The scholarships value will range from £7,000 to £8,000.
The scholarships will be awarded on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who can demonstrate excellent academic performance (current/and or previously gained), any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience and career development, and who will contribute to the overall academic, cultural and experiential of the programme cohort.
Eligibility
The value of the Faculty of Science International Excellence Award for Postgraduate Taught Masters Students is £7,000 - £8,000 and will be deducted from your fees.
The scholarships are available for eligible self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying applicants enrolling on a full-time PGT Masters course on-campus, starting September 2025. The scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred to any other entry points.
Those who receive full sponsorship from a government office or embassy are not eligible for these scholarships.
Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis following a review of the application and statement submitted and assessed based on the academic performance (current and/or previously gained), motivations, experience and career aspirations highlighted.
Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis. Awards may be allocated early in the application cycle and so making an early application for admission is advised.
Please do not submit duplicate scholarship applications as all scholarship application forms submitted will remain under consideration until the deadline of 31 July 2025.

To celebrate the 850th anniversary of the city of Glasgow, we are delighted to offer scholarships to help support full-time students joining a Strathclyde Business School (SBS) MSc programme in September 2025.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be deemed International for course fee status and hold an offer on an SBS MSc programme for the September 2025 intake.
The value of these scholarship awards will range from £6,000 to £8,000, depending on the subject area and course fee.
All candidates who hold a programme offer will be automatically considered. Therefore, no separate scholarship application is required, as the award decision will be based on the overall quality of the MSc programme application.
Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis from the end of January 2025 and the final deadline for consideration of awards will be 31 July 2025. All applicants will normally be notified of the Scholarship Committee's decision within one week of receiving an MSc programme offer.

We invite applicants who hold an offer of a place on a September 2025 SBS MSc programme and are classified as international for fee status, to apply. The scholarships will range from £9,000 to £12,000 depending on the specific subject area and course fees.
The scholarships will be awarded on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who can demonstrate excellent academic performance (current/and or previously gained), any relevant extra-curricular or professional experience and career development, and who will contribute to the overall academic, cultural and experiential of the programme cohort. The committee will consider both the scholarship and MSc programme applications in their decision making process.
The first tranche of scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis from February 2025, and the final deadline for consideration will be 30th April 2025. Successful applicants will be notified of the Scholarship Committee's decision within two weeks of submitting their scholarship application.

Scholarship awardees will also be expected to engage with a variety of activities during their course of study, including:

Taking an active role in either the social committee or class rep committee.
Volunteering as an admissions contact for prospective students.
