Geospatial science is the study of the Earth's physical and biological features and the space within and around it. Geospatial scientists collect, monitor and analyse data based on a location, using it to focus on global issues such as climate change and the increasingly harsh and extreme environment.
Geospatial sciences students will learn how to extensively analyse natural hazards, landscapes and regional issues via practical and project-based learning. Modules broadly include capturing 3D modules, data analysis and web and mobile GIS programming.
Employers highly value the technical skills of geospatial science graduates, and many go on to roles such as geospatial data acquisition, processing and management, geospatial data visualisation and analysis. Graduates work in a diverse range of roles, including data scientist, geospatial software developer, GIS/BIM professional or officer and consultants.
Honours degree or an upper second-class (2:1) degree in a relevant discipline (eg. civil engineering, marine and earth sciences, earth or environmental science, geography, mathematics or physics).
