London Metropolitan University places students at the centre of everything they do. Most courses at London Met are offered on both a full-time and part-time basis, to best meet your needs. All London Met undergraduate students are guaranteed a work-based learning opportunity, which counts towards their studies.
The University offers state-of-the-art learning, a library, as well as IT facilities, where students can hone their skills – from purpose-built art, design and recording studios, a mock courtroom, to a £100,000 journalism newsroom as well as its £30 million Science Centre, which is among Europe’s largest science teaching labs.

London Metropolitan University has partnered with the Education Centre of Australia (ECA) to offer international students the opportunity to join pathway programmes. These programmes will provide you with the necessary support, skills and confidence to begin university and will help prepare you for your degree with the University.
The International Foundation Programme is designed for students who have completed high school or partial university education overseas and need additional support to prepare for bachelor's study. The Pre-Master's is a semester-long programme that provides you with an entry route to the one-year, full-time master’s award at London Met.
A wide range of support services are available to students at London Metropolitan University. There is specialist help available to cater for the requirements of all students from outstanding support for those with disabilities and dyslexia, to funding and accommodation advice. London Met also strives to help students increase their career prospects and enhance their employability. The Students’ Union provides a place for students to access independent advice as well as clubs, societies, activities and much more.
A dedicated counselling service supports personal development and helps students deal with any issues of emotional well-being. There is also a specialist Refugee Assessment and Guidance Unit (RAGU) which provides advice, guidance and development for refugee health professionals.
Learn in world-class laboratories
At London Met, we’ve spent over £30 million to create one of the largest and most advanced science teaching facilities in Europe. Inside the facility, there are a number of laboratories including the superlab, tissue culture/microbiology laboratories, nutritional psychology and food technology laboratories, a psychophysiological laboratory, a nuclear magnetic resonance room and an environmental chamber.
A unique resource
Make Works is a unique resource within the School of Art, Architecture and Design. We have highly skilled specialist staff in areas as diverse as textiles, rapid prototyping, jewellery and silversmithing, musical instrument making, print and many more.
Our core philosophy is to work with our students and staff at the school to realise the potential of the workshops and technical facilities as unprecedented places for designing and making. Students enjoy access to purpose-built teaching spaces for art, architecture, and design, and access to specialist facilities including wood, metal, plastic and ceramics workshops, fashion and textile studios, printmaking and letterpress facilities, a photography studio and darkrooms, and contemporary media production and digital manufacturing technologies.

London Metropolitan University is a reputed institution in the UK, ranking 93rd in the Guardian University Guide 2025, and the university’s subject rankings further highlight its strong teaching and research capabilities. The university ranks seventh in nutrition and food science and fifth in interior design in the UK according to the Guardian University Guide 2025 and was in the top 50% of universities for social inclusion (Times Good University Guide 2024).
The University also has a strong culture of research. Over two-thirds of the research submitted to the most recent Research Assessment Exercise was judged to be “internationally recognised”, “internationally excellent” or “world-leading”. Many of these expert researchers will be leading your lectures, as will employers and professionals with extensive real-world experience.
The societal impact of LMU's research is viewed very positively in the REF 2021. Indeed, 82% of its research is internationally recognised in terms of impact, whilst 65% is world-leading or internationally excellent. This is a significant improvement in comparison to 2014, with the corresponding figures being 70% and 47%. As a result, LMU's ranking has jumped ten places nationally for impact.
London Metropolitan University does not own or manage any halls of residence or accommodation but can provide help and assistance in finding suitable privately owned accommodation.
You’ll experience the real London at London Met. We’re not talking about The London Eye or Big Ben (although you can do that too). With more than 1,000 galleries and museums in London to discover in your free time, the city offers the perfect opportunity to London students to develop their skills and learn new things outside their university hours.
London Met graduates have gone on to work at companies including the BBC, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Bank of England, Alexander McQueen and the British Museum.
London Metropolitan University has two main intakes for 2025, in January and September. Here are the application deadlines for each intake (applies to international students who require a Student visa):

September 2025 Intake
If you’re applying through UCAS, most courses will have the same deadline, which is 31st January 2025. For international applicants, it’s 30th June. These may vary depending on the course – especially for medicine and dentistry courses – so make sure you check the details for the course you’re applying for.
International applicants like you can apply to London Metropolitan University through the UCAS portal or directly through the university’s application link. If you're looking to study part-time or start your full-time undergraduate degree in January, you need to apply directly. If you’re applying for any postgraduate course other than a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), you must apply directly to the university.
The International Bright Futures Scholarship offers a £2,000 tuition fee reduction for eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students who hold an offer for a full-time degree at one of London Met’s UK campuses. Applicants are automatically considered for this scholarship after receiving an offer from the university.
According to the Graduate Outcomes Survey 2023, 85% of London Met graduates start working or pursuing further studies within six months of completing their degree. Graduates find positions in business development, art and design, engineering, and media, with employers including Amazon, EY, Deloitte, and Accenture.
