Scholarships at Trinity College Dublin

Students in the Senior Freshman (second) year may compete for a foundation scholarship, which will go into effect at the start of the student's third year. Up to ninety foundation scholars are elected annually on the basis of performance in the scholarship examination, which is usually held in the week before the start of the second term.

Applications to the Fundação Estudar's Scholarship Program are open until 30 March. Applicants will only have to provide an acceptance letter by the beginning of May. All Brazilian undergraduate students, from every course, that wish to leave a positive legacy in their country may compete to win one of Fundação Estudar’s scholarships.

Award

Scholarships valued at up to €5,000 each, applied as a reduction to the tuition fees of a full-time undergraduate programme for the first year of study only.

There are several scholarships available across the range of full-time undergraduate programmes offered at Trinity (except for Medicine, Dentistry and Acting courses).

Who can apply

Applicants who have non-EU status and will pay tuition fees at the non-EU rate.

The Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme aims to support local students to pursue studies in world renowned universities outside Hong Kong, with a view to grooming a top cadre of talents with global vision, international network and world-class education, thereby contributing to enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as Asia’s World City in a globalised knowledge economy. The scheme also seeks to support those students who have excellent academic achievement but lack the financial means to study in top-notch universities outside Hong Kong.

All awardees will receive a non-means-tested scholarship to cover their tuition fees, subject to a ceiling of HK$250,000 per annum, whichever is lower. In addition, a means-tested bursary will be granted to students who may need additional support to pursue their study, subject to a ceiling of HK$200,000 per student per annum. The means-tested bursary will consist of two components, up to HK$50,000 per annum for covering tuition fee in excess of HK$250,000; and up to HK$150,000 per annum for covering living and other study-related expenses. Once awarded, a scholarship will last for the normal duration of the concerned programme in respect of undergraduate studies and up to two years in respect of all postgraduate studies. It will be renewable annually subject to the provision of satisfactory documentary proof of the awardees’ good academic performance.

To be eligible for the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme, applicants are required to meet the following two criteria:

• have right of abode or right to land, or have entered Hong Kong on One-way Permits; and;

• have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of the academic programme outside Hong Kong.

Award

The Trinity scholarship will top up the €20,000 tuition fee scholarship provided by the Jean Monnet Scholarship to ensure the awardees’ full tuition fees are covered. The scholarship applies to the Jean Monnet Scholars from Turkey enrolling into Trinity for the following one-year programmes:

• LL.M

• LL.M in International and European Business Law

• LL.M in International and Comparative Law

• LL.M in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law

Requirements to apply

• Hold an offer, firm or conditional, for one of the Trinity LLM programmes above.

• Hold a Jean Monnet Scholarship.

The scholarship will be applicable for the first 3 Jean Monnet scholars who register for the selected programmes at Trinity

The MSc Comparative Social Change is a postgraduate programme delivered jointly by the Department of Sociology at Trinity College Dublin and the School of Sociology at University College Dublin.

Award

A range of scholarships are available for non-EU students, applied as a reduction to the tuition fees of the MSc programme.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are assessed competitively with the main criterion for the granting of the scholarships being the proven academic merit of the candidate. Other information to be taken into account include a personal statement outlining your background and motivation for pursuing a graduate degree in Sociology.

• Non-EU applicants are automatically considered for a scholarship up to €5,000 and do not need to fill in any separate scholarship application form.

Many candidates with exceptional qualifications apply annually to the MSc programme. Thus the decision as to the recipients of the scholarships is at the discretion of the MSc Comparative Social Change Course Directors and panel members where applicable. The panel’s and Course Director’s decision is final and awards may not be deferred.

Every year sports scholarships are awarded to students of national and international standard who come to study at and compete for Trinity.

Who can apply

Applicants who are normally resident in and have completed their high school education in the USA. Applicants who have non-EU status and will pay tuition fees at the non-EU rate.  Applicants must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.3.

The scholarship will be assessed based on academic achievement and financial need, core values and evaluation of the applicants’ potential to build value in the overall TCD community.
