Rishworth School
Overview
Founded
in 1724 Rishworth School is fully co-educational and aims to provide for your
child a caring environment in which they can achieve a high standard relative
to their natural talent. The School comprises a nursery for children from age
3, a Junior School, Heathfield, which has its own separate site, and the Senior
School.
The School admits pupils of a broad range of academic abilities and prides
itself on being able to give your child close personal attention, both in, and
outside, the classroom. Pastoral care is highly developed, with a tutorial
system which ensures that your child receives regular encouragement and help on
matters ranging from academic work to personal development.
Boarding
Boarding accounts for about 25% of the pupils in the Senior School and starts
from the age of 10 (although we are happy to consider applications, on request,
from younger pupils). Boarders are generously accommodated and are regarded as
an important part of the life of the School. We have a thriving boarding
community, which makes up about a quarter of the Senior School, where British
nationals, some of whose families live abroad and some really quite locally,
mix with students from a wide range of other countries including Germany,
Estonia, HK & Russia
Unique Points
Sport, Music, Drama and Art are among our many perennial strengths as a school. For instance, we have a 'sport for all' approach, whereby everyone can 'have a go' and enjoy sport, whatever their level, yet we also provide state-of-the-art facilities and training for our many students who compete seriously - at club, county, regional, national and even international levels. Indeed, we have just opened a new community Sports Club, with its superbly-refurbished indoor swimming pool, squash courts cardio-vascular suite, resistance training rooms and personal fitness trainer.
Entry Requirements
Most International students are required to complete our EFL test - The University of Cambridge Quick Placement Test. This test is now done online
