students are only eligible to hold one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
applicants to the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), LLB Graduate Entry and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice are not eligible for this scholarship, however, graduates from these programmes are eligible for this Alumni scholarship when applying to other postgraduate programmes.
The University has worked closely with the University of Strathclyde Students’ Association, Scottish Refugee Council, and The Carnegie Trust to create this scholarship. Its aim is to help asylum seekers, currently in the UK, and individuals currently in the UK on humanitarian grounds to overcome obstacles in pursuing higher education.
The scholarship is available to students who want to study for an undergraduate degree or a taught postgraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde. It covers the cost of tuition fees and provides money for essential studyrelated expenses.
If you were under 18 when your parent or guardian applied for asylum, or if you are an unaccompanied asylum seeker and under 18 when your asylum application was submitted, you may be eligible to have your tuition fees paid by SAAS.

Is this for you?
Applications are open to individuals who:
Have received a conditional or unconditional offer to study an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course at the University of Strathclyde for the 20252026 academic year (courses starting in September).
Have applied for refugee status under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees, or are a dependent of someone who has applied, and have not yet received a decision from the Home Office. Or
Have been granted leave to remain in the UK based on Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, provided they are not eligible for student support from relevant funding bodies in Scotland, England, Wales, or Northern Ireland.
Reside within the Glasgow area. Please note that this scholarship does not cover housing, living expenses, or travel costs for those living outside the Glasgow area.
Have been in the UK since August 1st before the start date of their course.
Applications from prospective students residing outside the Glasgow area (in other parts of the UK) will be considered only if they provide written evidence of appropriate accommodation arrangements at the time of application.
Who isn’t eligible for the scholarship?
Individuals residing outside of the United Kingdom (UK) are not eligible.
Travelling to the UK with the intention of seeking asylum solely to qualify for this scholarship is not permitted.
The scholarship will not cover housing, living expenses, or travel costs.
Students who do not receive support from the Home Office for living costs.
Students who are not intending to pursue an undergraduate or taught postgraduate degree (for example, research students).
The Business School is pleased to offer scholarship for international students applying to the undergraduate BBA Honours Business Administration course. A number of 25% fee reduction per year awards are on offer (three years in total) and the award will be deducted from your tuition fees.
The BBA Honours course offers general business study over 3 years and the opportunity to specialise in the following business disciplines: Business Analysis and Technology; Business Enterprise; Economics; Human Resource Management; Hospitality and Tourism Management; and Marketing.
Value: 25% fee reduction per year (three years in total).

We are delighted to announce our EU Engagement Scholarships to support full-time undergraduate students commencing taught courses in 2025. The scholarships will be available to those EU applicants who would have previously been eligible for Home (Scottish/EU) fee status but, because of Brexit, will now be classified as being eligible for International fee status
Our undergraduate scholarships will be awarded for each year of study for students who meet our eligibility criteria.
Value: up to £8,000.

Your application for study will be checked for eligibility when you apply, therefore you do not need to make a separate application for this scholarship.
The scholarships will be automatically applied to:
EU nationals and their dependant family members who are self-funding and:
are resident in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK at the time of application; and
are classed as international for tuition fee purposes; and
are entering a full-time degree undergraduate or postgraduate taught Masters programmes in 2025.
This scholarship does not apply to students classified as Home or RUK for tuition fee purposes.
