Scholarships at University of Roehampton

We want to encourage ambitious students from selected countries to study with us at the University of Roehampton. We know how much the costs of tuition fees, living expenses, accommodation are in real terms, so we have put in place extra financial support to help students to afford to study at Roehampton.

• Country Scholarship A: This award is worth £2,500 to each successful applicants who enrols in September or January.

• Country Scholarship B: This award is worth £1,500 to each successful applicants who enrols in September or January.

Scholarship awarded for each year of study (maximum of three years for undergraduate).

Eligibility

We will automatically consider you for this award if you hold a conditional offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course. You must successfully enrol for the September or January intake in order to receive the award. Scholarship will be awarded in the form of a tuition fee discount.

• Scholarship A: Be a national of, and living in, one of these countries: Albania; Bangladesh; Brazil; Colombia; Myanmar; Nepal; Pakistan; Nigeria; Ghana; Sri Lanka; Vietnam; Thailand; Indonesia; Kenya

• Scholarship B: Be a national of, and living in, one of these countries: Egypt, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Morocco, Taiwan, Turkey; Mexico; South Africa

In addition, you must:

• Be self-funded, studying full-time and paying overseas tuition fees.

• Hold a conditional offer for a qualifying course before the deadline.

• Not be progressing to us through our partnership with QA Higher Education, students progressing through this route will be eligible for alternative scholarship offerings.

For the September 2025 entry, we are offering a scholarship of £3,000 for all overseas fee-paying students applying for one of the new Engineering and Technology Undergraduate courses:

• Architectural Technology.

• Civil Engineering.

• Construction Management.

The scholarship will be awarded for year 1 of study only. 

Further Information

This award can be combined with other Roehampton scholarships or discounts in year 1 of study, up to a maximum of £4,000. If you are eligible for two scholarships or discounts, the value awarded will be capped at £4,000 for year 1.

Any scholarship amounts awarded in year 2 or 3 of study will be unaffected.

Available to students from outside the UK who have overseas fee status.

The scholarship, the first of its kind for a UK university, is worth £2,000 a year and will support a student on any undergraduate and postgraduate courses enrolling at Roehampton.

The University of Roehampton has also announced a new Women in Esports Scholarship, the first women-focused esports scholarships to be introduced in Europe.

Students applying for the scholarship will need to demonstrate talent in the field and successful applicants that join us will need to show their commitment to esports alongside successful academic progression.

NEW: Women in Esports Scholarships

The University of Roehampton has announced a new Women in Esports scholarship, the first women-focused esports scholarships to be introduced in Europe. 

With up to four scholarships available to first year, each worth up to £2,000 a year, the programme aims to improve diversity and inclusivity in the esports industry and to inspire the next generation of women esports professionals.

Initiated by Roehampton Esports, the University’s esports department, the scholarships will offer those accepted onto the scheme a number of opportunities such as a dedicated mentorship scheme, allowing them to connect with senior industry figures.

This is the second type of esports scholarship to be launched by the University of Roehampton, after it became the first UK University to offer esports scholarships in 2018.

As part of the new scholarships, Roehampton Esports will also be partnering with a host of organisations including Women in Games, the National University Esports League (NUEL), Cat Collective, Special Effect and London Esports to bring new opportunities for scholarship recipients, such as work placements and professional esports and industry training. Together with Women in Games, the University of Roehampton will also host weekly women-only esports sessions open to all women in the University, as well as further networking sessions.

What you will get

If you are successfully awarded a Roehampton esports Scholarship, you will receive:

• £2000 cash scholarship for every year of study with us on the degree you enrol on.

• Travel and entry costs for competitions.

• Access to our on-site gym and services managed by Nuffield Health.

• Access to sports massage therapy.

• Additional training, support and CPD development.

• Lifestyle and welfare support.

Esports Scholarships applications for 2025 entry will open for application on 30 October.

A scholarship of £5000 is available for students from European Union (EU) countries with EU nationality and overseas fee status, enrolling at Roehampton in 2025 or 2026 (all intakes).  

• The scholarship is a tuition fee discount which will be awarded for the first year of study and subsequent years of study.

• EU nationals with overseas fee status are eligible only.

• This can only be combined with the esports, sports and music scholarships.

We offer a range of generous scholarships worth up to £4,000 per year, as a tuition fee discount, to high achieving postgraduate (Masters) international students.

They are available for courses with January or September entry. They are worth the following:

• £4,000 scholarships (1 year).

• £2,500 scholarships (1 year).

• £1,000 scholarships (1 year).

They are worth the following:

• £4,000 scholarships (x3 years).

• £2,500 scholarships (x3 years).

Extended degrees: scholarships will be applied in year 2 where criteria is met at point of application.

The University of Roehampton has sole discretion to assign, vary or withdraw this award.

The University of Roehampton offers music scholarships to enable undergraduate and postgraduate students meet some of the costs of developing their talents through lessons, courses, or the purchase of relevant equipment (instruments/strings/sheet music etc.). In return, music scholars enhance the cultural life of the University through performances and enrich their colleges by being available for events chosen by College Heads.

The scholarships are worth up to £1,200 a year and will support a student on any undergraduate and postgraduate courses enrolling at Roehampton.

Students applying for the scholarship will need to demonstrate musical aptitude and their commitment to engage in the musical life of the university, alongside successful academic progression. Scholarships are linked to our four Colleges, and successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the musical life of their College.

There are two scholarships available at each college; eight in total. Smaller awards may also be given. The scholarships are available to students who will be studying on any Roehampton course, at any level, undergraduate or postgraduate.

What you will receive

If you are successfully awarded a Roehampton Music Scholarship, you will receive:

• Up to £1,200 per year cash scholarships for every year of study with us on the degree you enrol on.

• Support and guidance from our Director of Music.

• Opportunities to perform and collaborate with other musicians.
