22 August 2024

The University of East London (UEL) has achieved exceptional results in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS), reaching historic milestones and reinforcing its reputation as a leading student-focused, careers-oriented institution. UEL has advanced from 13th to 3rd place nationally (and best in London) out of 139 higher education institutions, reflecting a significant increase in student positivity.

Key achievements include:

  • Teaching quality ranked 9th nationally, placing UEL first in London
  • Learning opportunities rose to 4th nationally and first in London
  • Assessment and feedback improved to 7th nationally, and second in London
  • Academic support saw a notable rise, moving UEL 40 places higher nationally

With 76% of UEL students participating, exceeding the national average by 4%, the NSS remains a crucial measure of student satisfaction across the UK. Professor Amanda Broderick, Vice-Chancellor and President of UEL, said: "Our students are amazing. It is incredibly rewarding to receive such positivity from our graduating students, reflecting the success of our collaborative, careers-first approach to the student experience. I am so proud of what our graduates achieve and all that is possible for them in the future.

"Our University community is genuinely transformative: Six years into our strategic plan, vision 2028, our community consistently demonstrates – with passion, courage and an inclusive mindset - progress in our mission to prepare our students for the careers and opportunities of the future while driving forward that future inclusively and sustainably.”
