Despite strong global competition, four Scottish universities maintained their position in the Times Higher Education World Rankings top 200.
University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of St Andrews and University of Aberdeen all improved upon their 2014 rankings.
Edinburgh maintained its position as the highest ranking Scottish university, moving up to 36th from a previous position of 39th, while Glasgow broke the top 100 and ranked 94th.
