Northumbria University has been named the Times Higher Education (THE) University of the Year following its 2022 awards ceremony which took place in London this week.
Considered the 'Oscars of higher education', the THE panel recognised Northumbria's transformation to become the UK’s first research-intensive modern university. It follows the immense success of the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, in which the University recorded the biggest rise in research power of any UK university.
Professor Andy Long, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Northumbria University, said: “Our ambition is to give all students with the potential and ability the opportunity to benefit from a Northumbria education.
"Winning this award shows that the education we give our students is enriched by research – but I genuinely believe what sets us apart from others is that 40% of these students are from traditionally low-participation backgrounds. Along with all our students, they learn from researchers and academics, participate in research and co-create knowledge."

My consultant was very helpful and motivating. She helped me every step of the way, even when the deadline was so close. I feel I could not have done it without her. I'd highly recommend this service to any and all of my many friends interested.
